Thanks for all help. What I am doing is drawing a castle and I am going to put the shops in a row and have the first one big and then they get smaller and smaller the further down the picture and I need to know what the opposite of receding is. Thanks agian for all help.

The antonym for 'receding' is 'advancing'.

However, I'm not sure if that's the word you're looking for.
