software, because I have gotten this program recommended to me from several people. When the search came back, there were several different links and websites...

http://www.free-avg.org
http://www.avg-anti-virus.org
http://www.A-V-G-Download.Com
http://www.avg.hq.com
http://www.free-AVG-Download.com

From what I can tell, all or most of these sites are claiming to be the real deal.

"Grisoft.com" and "free.grisoft.com" are the two that I am wondering if they are the same company, but I'm not sure.

I guess AVG (anti-virus guard) is now on Vista operating systems, maybe someone with Vista can send me a legitimate link.

Thanks. Happy Yahooing ; )

Sometimes the companies make it a little difficult to get the free version so that you will sign up for the premium for pay.

Just remember grisoft is the name of the company who make AVG products, therefore if you always go to the top link then you are on the correct site.

Grisoft also create other products and not just Anti Virus software.

Many website on the internet will have AVG products to download, some are legit some are not and that's why you should stick to the top link if you are unsure.

The first two links, although slightly different are actually one and the same. You can just download the normal free version for Vista. Heres the link.

Notice on that page that there is also a link to download it from Download.com which is legit also though it is not part of Grisoft's website. When companies do this it is often referred to as a mirror as another website/company is miroring the file you want.

Free.grisoft.com is real. But note that the free AVG version is not the "full free" version that most people are used to. AVG went completely commercial a few months ago,and ther eis not tech support the free version anymore.

Here is the link: http://free.grisoft.com/
