Everytime me and my boyfriend have an argument, I'm always the one to speak up first after the silent treatment! How can I make him speak first??

do what he does. act like you don't care. go a few hours as if nothings bothering you, then just say 'you finished your strop yet or shall i call back later?' (even if you live with him) the usual answer is 'you're the one in a strop, not me!' i just laugh an say 'oh, right, thanks for letting me know....' and walk off, find something to do. he'll come round, men have hormone issues too..
works for me anyway.

Don't begin the silent treatment. He's doing a power play on you whether he realizes it or not. Don't let that situation get set up.
