i know this is possible my friend can do it but hes not available to talk to right now and the most important part is they need to wrok and not screw up my ipod

You can't without it being illegal. Copying videos off of YouTube is like getting into peoples personal stuff. I wouldn't do it if i were you. Get your friend to do it for you or something.

Easy, I do it all the time. Just go to zamzar.com/url and paste in the name of the URL of the video. Then press convert to mp4.
They'll send you an email a few min later, and all you do is press the link that they give you. It'll open a new page - click Download. Then a box will pop up. Press Save and save it to an easy-to-get to folder.
After it's done downloading, open iTunes and press File > Import File. Find the vid and click on it, and it'll be put into your Movies area.

Your downloaded youtube vidoe is flv video, you just have to get a flv converter to convert flv to mp4, and then sync it to your iPod with iTunes. I always use FLV to Video Converter to convert flv video to MP4 video,
