how can you keep sharpie on clothing from fading?

what is the best way to keep sharpie ON clothing????....not wash it off.....my friend had her pants signed by her favorite band, and doesnt want it to get washed off. any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

vinegar in the wash sets colors, stops them from bleeding.

Turn the pants inside out when washing. Use cold water and be stingy with the detergent. This won't prevent fading, but it will reduce it.
