I don't think a properly trained dog will growl and bite at anyone. Small or big. I own a 10lb Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, a 20 lb (yes, he's a fattie) Shih Tzu, 40lb Shar Pei and a 95lb Shar Pei. None of them have biting/aggression issues because I raised them properly. Even the largest dog, whom I rescued, doesn't have any aggression issues anymore. People treat the small dogs more like people because you can hold them, put them in a purse and so on. It's easier for people to ignore the biting issues of a smaller dog as well because they think "who's going to be killed by a chihuahua?" If you look it up, depending where you get your information, most bites come from smaller dogs. Now I do understand that most fatalities do come from larger breeds but that's because bigger dog=more damage. It is also selective stuff form the media. Think about when one person get's attacked by a shark during the summer, all you hear about for the rest of the summer is shark attacks or encounters with sharks. Same with Pit Bulls, who I happen to love, my brother in law has 2 and they wouldn't hurt anyone. It also has to do with the dumb people who get the dog because they want a guard dog and then don't take care of it so when it get's loose it attacks people, animals and etc.
