I'd rush through the house searching for battery operated things, rip out any batteries I can find that are the right size and use them in the remote. If that don't work, I'd turn on the VCR set the TV to channel 3 and use the remote from the VCR to turn channels, just can't adjust the volume - but at least I won't have to get up again.
If all else fails, I would go to sleep or listen to music instead.

Get up and change the channel. You know, T.V's are built in with buttons right on the front. Now, I know it may be a little difficult, but you can take the few steps to change the channel. And get this...you can even adjust the volume!!!! Isn't that super????

Go to sleep. If the batteries die or I can't find the remote, then I can't watch tv. I'm too lazy to get up and walk to the tv.
