I know it's something to with the poor people but why have food tokens? Here in Australia it's unheard of as we have a good Social Security system to help the poor, disabled and disadvantaged.

I've never heard of food tokens. If you're referring to food stamps, that was what was given before people got a card similar to a credit card to use. Now they're given a certain amount on a card that they can buy food on. But it's basically the same as what you're claiming. The government is giving them money for food. Qualifications vary from state to state, but most states limit the amount of time you can receive government assistance.

Being a rich country doesn't mean the wealth is spread evenly. There are plenty of people in America living well beneath the poverty line, and they need welfare (food stamps) to make ends meet.
Our Social Security system only helps people save money for retirement. We have limited programs to offer food, shelter, and health care to the needy, but these are socialized to any great extent.

America IS rich. At the top. The middle class is disappearing, the right wing wants poor people to move away, and Americans are too lazy to care.

We have a good social security system to help feed the poor too. It's called 'food stamps'. Same thing just a different name.

Now things are a little lean here, but that's because all of our resources are going to other countries that think we are rich.

Cheers.

We have poor people in the US also--its dumb for us to send money all over the world when some people need it here.
