As far as I'm concerned, the only answer I can give is that most people believe prostitution is immoral and most behaviors which people believe are immoral end up being banned. Someone has, relatively recently, come up with an argument that government shouldn't legislate morality. But no one has ever attributed that concept to the way our country has been legislating since the very beginning.

It will stay illegal unless and until large number of people start saying that they believe that the law should be repealed. Or until the U.S. Supreme Dictators strike down the laws. Given their "reasoning" in Lawrence v. Texas, I don't know WHAT they'll do.

They work tax free right now and most don't have insurance. No one is making them wear condoms which ends up costing the tax payers because we foot the bill when they get sick.

If it were legal there would be benefits. The sex workers would have healthcare and there would be mandatory drug and STI/STD. It would lower the spread the infections and diseases and the future burden to tax payers would be lessened. The government would also be able to tax the sex worker.

It should stay illegal because it sends a bad message to our young girls. Most of the women doing that don't do it because they enjoy it or because they want to do it- they do it because they don't know anything else or they meet the wrong guy and they get turned out. Its a horrible way for a woman to live. Some in Las Vegas still work off the grid so-to-speak. Many are addicts and they don't make enough to buy their drugs, rent their motel rooms and pay taxes.

It should be legal because:
1. Porn is legal (people are having sex and being paid for it) so morality isn't a good reason for banning it.
2. Illegal prostitution breeds a lot of crime and STDs
3. Illegal prostition keeps us from billions of tax dollars a year
4. Prostitution involves 2 consenting adults - and if 2 consenting adults can consent to casual sex, then why not business sex??? Doesn't make sense.
5. All of our politicians are doing it....

If it's legal, it can be regulated and made more safe.

If it remains illegal, then it is beyond regulation and very unsafe.

Ex. Nevada has legal prostitution requiring regular health checks and safe sex procedures, and has yet to report a prostitute who caught HIV on the job.

Now compare that to places where prostitition is illegal. Basically, you end up with rapes, murders, spread of disease, official bribery, and a whole lot of other problems.

Legalize it, bring it into the light.

It should be legal to help cut down sexual assault. If a guy has to be worried in getting trapped by UC, then he is going to try and grab someone and do it anyway he can.

It should only be illegal when the women are being as slaves.

Sure, most relationships are financial deals as it is. And it's a much better deal to rent than buy when it comes to depreciating assets.
