Doesn't Oklahoma have more National Championships than all of the teams ahead of them combined? That's what I thought!

I meant the teams RANKED ahead of them!

Only Notre Dame is one ahead of Oklahoma in true National titles! USC and Alabama have have 5 and 6 - not no 11 and thirteen! I've seen that crap too. By those criteria, Oklahoma has 13 national titles.

The modern era of football started at the end of WW II. Since that time, OU has 7 LEGITIMATE National Titles. Two more than anyone else.

Oklahoma kicked off the new Mellinium by shutting out Florida State's famous offense in one of the greatest defensive games a college football team has ever played. It was the 2000 National Championship. Of course, they would have beat the crap out of LSU on a neutral field also. Good luck to anyone playing down there with those refs!

Yes we do.

But the Barry Switzer Center could use some more.

and why does that have anything to do with where they are ranked now? if you really want to play that game then i guess you would want Notre Dame at #1 with USC and Alabama at 2 and 3 with 11 titles each? if we went by that measurement then harvard would be ranked 14th....

oklahoma would not have 13...

i still dont understand how you can possible argue that because oklahoma has so many national titles they should be ranked higher now...? what does the 2000 oklahoma team have anything to do with this years team? not a single player from that team is on this team so how does that benifit them?

Um...you could have asked this question a little better, there brainiac. Oklahoma has a total of 9 national championships, Ohio State has 7, Lsu 1...and oregon 0..so I guess the answer to your question is yea. What was the point of the question though?

Yes. All these people are just jealous of Oklahoma's success. I guess that LSU fan can't count as far back as 2000 when we won our last one. We would have another one if we would have played them on a neutral field.

They have Baylor, Texas Tech and Oklahoma St left and the Kansas or Missouri in the Big !2 Championship game. I don't think any of those teams has ever won the National Championship. That being said, the Kansas vs Missouri winner can beat the Sooners.

What does that have to do with anything?!? I know its not likely, but I'd love to see a UO v OU national champ game. After the Ducks kicked OU's butt maybe Sooner fan would go away for a while (wishful thinking)...

The answer to your question is "depends on how you count championships and how far back you want to go."

As far as modern era OSU has one and OU has one since the turn of the century
