obscene or offensive not having pubic hair or should I let it grow out? I normally shave it, but don't want to offend. Does anyone have experience doing nudes or posing for them? Thanks.

I've been to an awful lot of life drawing sessions (in the hundreds)... and have never seen a shaved model. Most importantly, artists are there to draw - and not to fantasize about sex. Personally, I'm quite sure no one would be offended. However, I think a shaved model would be a distraction, and that may make you feel uncomfortable.

I doubt anybody will care either way. If one is taking a class with nude models one shouldn't be freaked out that easily. Actually some may appreciate the variety. Drawing the same type of model all the time is boring. I've been to one drawing class where the main model shaved her pubic hair and nobody ever made any comment. But if you are worried, yes, it will be a good idea to ask the instructor and if it's just for reassurance.

There are trends in nudes. In the 50's nudes in Playboy for example never showed pubic hair, but didn't show skin details there either, it was air brushed out. Then in the 60's pubic hair appeared and after that intimate details of anatomy. Now most nudes seem to be shaved.
I go with asking the instructor. In fact, you might as well ask for a briefing on what will be done - something like "You will take off your clothes in the restroom and put on a robe we will provide. You will position yourself on a stand and remove the robe and stand (or sit still) for 20 minutes at a time. When it is time for a break, you will put on your robe. You will hold a pose for one hour, with breaks every 20 minutes for 5 minutes and then I will direct you to another pose for the next hour. You may be sitting, standing or laying down."
Breaks, time in a pose, kinds of supports (like for your arm so you don't hold it out for an hour), number of poses, should be discussed.

Ask the instructor. For what it is worth, back when I was browsing through the fine art books looking for a cheap thrill, almost all of the nudes whose pubic regions showed had hair. Shaving - which makes the shavee look like a 12-year old - is a recent phenomenon.

Don't worry about it. You can shave it as normal, or you can let it grow. The purpose of you being in the nude is to allow the students to draw your form and pay attention to detail. You could be really mean and shave it into a unique pattern.

Do what you normally do. I am an artist and my wife and I model for art classes. It really does not matter. As long as you are clean. After all, you are becoming a work of art.
I hope you do well and find the work as rewarding as we have. Have fun

In my art class it was appreciated if the model would shave, because pubic hair is very difficult to render realistically. If you don't want to go that far, a short trim would be good too.

Hair or not it offends me that you are going to do that.

So understanding that someone will always object to things that you do, go how ever you are most comfortable and forget what others might think.

Your going to be naked in front of a group of strangers for God's sake, what do you care what others think?
