So, first, let me explain the story behind choosing these names. My mother and brother are from Germany so I'm very interested and involved with that side of my life and family. Then my dad is from the south, so again, i'm very involved on that side of me too. I'm pregnant, but don't know what I'm having, but if it's a girl, I've had this name picked out for quite some time:

Adalia Willodean

Adalia is German for Noble one, and Willodean is a name passed down to me from the southern side of my family. What do yall think?

I thought of calling her Willo for short, but changing the name from willodean loses the whole point of it. I want that name def. to be passed down b/c it has been for sometime.

For the record. My middle name is Willodean as well, and to be honest, I never really got made fun of. Kids actually were jealous b/c it was unique

We are having a more difficult time with the boy name. We both agree on Dalton, but that's it. When I told him the name for the girl, he fell in love instantly!

I think Adalia is a beautiful name. Passing down the name Willodean is also continuing a wonderful family tradition. The name will serve much more meaning instead of pairing Adalia with a less appealing "filler" just so the combination seemingly flows well to the ears of others. :-)

I LOVE Adalia! Adela, which is a close relative of it, has always been one of my favorite names. Adalia also has a lot of nickname potential - Addie, Dale, Lia, Allie, Dia, etc. Willodean sounds so much better when I say it aloud as opposed to reading it on the screen lol - I think the -dean part just bothers me a tiny bit. Still, Adalia Willodean is a really great name, especially since Willodean is the middle name. It's also nice that you're passing down your middle name to her.

Good luck and congrats on the baby!

PS I was just curious about this name (and I'm too lazy to go look it up lol) - but is Kaiser a German name? I've always wanted to name a boy that lol.

Adalia is a beautiful and meaningful name, but even though Willodean is an important family name for you, I do feel that because it's a bit "out there" it could become a source of embarrassment to your child when she's older. I had an embarrassing middle name because it was obscure and I got so sick of being teased about it that I had it legally changed when I became an adult in my uni days - best thing I ever did. Also be careful not to create initials that can be mocked, eg I take it your surname begins with W so your child would have "aww" as initials. I hope you stick with Adalia - it's lovely! May you be blessed with an easy pregnancy and a beautiful healthy baby at the end of it all.

I like it. Not a huge fan of Willodean, but I do like the family significance. I might suggest Adelaide instead of Adalia just because it will be easier to say and spell for the general public. However, Adalia is still very pretty. Good choice!

I like the name Adalia but it's easier for people to pronounce correctly if it's spelled Adela. I love Willodean and Willo as a nickname. I think you should mix a german first name with a southern middle and vice versa.

Adalia is fine. Very nice. Willodean im not crazy about. You may want to pass down family names, but at some point it will have to go (It can get a bit outdated).

My whole family is german (although we've lived in AUS since I was a baby) and I think that name is absolutely gorgeous. Adalia is so beautiful and Willodean has a history behind it so together they go wonderfully.
I think you've picked a winner!

Best of luck....oh and what do you have picked for a boy...?

EDIT - 'Jemma', Kaiser is a german name and means ruler as far as I know.....

I love it!! Adalia is such a beautiful name but I'm not crazy about Willodean. Why not Adalia Willow? Similar enough and sounds so lovely!

It is very unusual. I dont see anything wrong with it personally but when she gets to school kids can be mean sometimes and there is a chance she would be made fun of. If you like it you should use it. Keep in mind though a name is something your child will carry with them forever.

I think it's darling and feminine with a unique edge. Beautiful!

I also think Willo would be cute as a nickname.
