My friend is adopting Korean twin girls and she likes the names Keia and Maui. She knows Keia means "this" in Hawaiian, and obviously Maui is a town in Hawaii but she still likes the Pacific Island feel of the names. And besides they're Korean not Hawaiian, so it really doesn't matter. She wonders what other people would think..... So this is where you come in....

I don't like the names because of how silly the reasons are. If she wants Hawaiian sounding names, there are so many pretty ones that aren't "this" and "a town in Hawaii". How about:

Malia -form of Mary
Leilani -heavenly flowers
Kalea -bright
Kalena -form of Karen
Kiana -form of Diana
Maile -calm
Mele -song
Noelani -heavenly mist

These are legitimate Hawaiian names that have very pretty meanings behind them. My favorite pairs are:

Kalea and Leilani -My favorite! I love this pair.
Malia and Noelani
Kalena and Mele

I would also think about using Korean middle names, like:

Hye -intelligent
Iseul -virtuous
Ji -wisdom
Jing -precious
Kyung -respect
Yong- brave

How about:

Kalea Iseul and Leilani Kyung-My favorite! I love this pair.
Malia Yong and Noelani Ji
Kalena Hey and Mele Jing

Being from Hawaii, I think the names are lame. I'm sorry...but Saliva sounds lyrical too...however is not appropriate for a name. Meanings do matter. It's not the same as Cheyenne or Austin. How about Korean names? Or Hawaiian names that work better? Alana, Malia, Lani, Mily...
Has she checked out these websites for ideas?

I like the name Keia but Maui i think is too hawaiian. Oh and yes, great game against Dartmouth! Played great in first period but sort of fell apart. UVM I think played mostly a defensive game from then on.

I think they're lovely names, but don't you want them to have names that mean more than just "this" and some town in Hawaii?

I love Yon Kiana and Cho Keona.
Yon Kiana- Yon means "a lotus blossom" in Korean and Kiana means "moon goddess" in Hawaiian.
Cho Keona- Cho means "beautiful" in Korean and Keona means "God's gracious gift" in Hawaiian.

I think it's really important for the girls to have a Korean name and a Hawaiian touch is lovely too. I really love Yon Kiana and Cho Keona, but good luck with whatever you choose!

Masculine
Feminine
Unisex

Honestly, I think that if your friend is adopting twin girls from Korea that she should pick names that not only mean something significant, but are also beautiful names that come from the girls' cultural heritage.

But that's just my opinion! :)

if she lives in America i think it is better to give a more common type American name to help them fit in.it is not necessary to point out they are Korean! if you want these type names it just makes them look odd in this country! sorry that is my opinion on the matter.
