How many keys does a professional keyboard have, like one used in a rock band?
what's the best kind to get?

organs are 61
some keyboards have 76
I prefer 88

Depends what you want it for and how much you want to spend. If you want something which has GOOD sounds but not very many then you'd be better off getting a stage piano. If you want hundreds of sounds, synths, effects etc then you'd be better off getting a synthesizer. If you want a very good organ sound then you'd be better off getting something like a nord stage organ.

Do some research - look on the websites for yamaha, roland, nord and possibly moog see what you fancy. In my opion you should steer clear of korgs - I can't stand them. In addition you may need to think about whether you need 2 keyboards - I have a roland 300SX for good piano sounds and a roland fantom XA for synths etc.
