Lots of Windex and paper towels or newspaper. If you do get streaks, start over with plain water and paper towels. To prevent the mirror from steaming (if it's in the bathroom), use shaving foam and rub all over mirror, wiping completely away with clean paper towels. It will stay steam free for about a month.

In all honesty, I have never had this problem. I'm trying to imagine what it might be that is causing the over-streaking that you are describing - and the only thing I can think of is that there might be something on the mirror - like speckles of toothpaste or soap - that are being dragged around as you wipe the mirror. If this is the case, then obviously, those bits need to be removed. I recommend wiping the mirror down first with a product called "Goo Gone", which is a citrus-based grease cutter-type product, available in the WalMart hardware department (I pay about $2.99 for the small bottle). A little goes a long way. Put a small amount of this liquid on a paper towel, and wipe down the whole surface of the mirror. This will remove any type of residue that may be responsible for the streaking. After the mirror is wiped down (and dry), clean it with some ammonia (even store-brand windex is good enough) mixed with water, using either crumpled-up newspaper or a good quality, lint-free paper towel. There shouldn't be any streaking after this.

I have a squujee I don't know how to spell it but it is a really small one. It is what they use at gas stations. You clean it with one side and wipe it off with the other side. Leaving your windows streak free.
