By all means, buy a laptop with whichever operating system and "apps" you're used to. Don't box yourself into having to subject yourself to another unnecessary learning curve.

In the last couple of years, and in my opinion, Apple and MS-based systems have no particular advantage over one another. Apple, for a long time had the "edge" in graphic-oriented applications, due largely to their Motorola CPUs. PCs, of course, have always been considered "business-oriented" systems - an issue (non-factual) that Apple often tried to sell to the public in their anti-PC commercials.

You see, Apple invaded classrooms many years ago and established a foot hold with educators and students who used, and became comfortable with their products. It was a smart move as they literally gave away their machines to many school districts so as to establish a future customer base. If they (Apple) hadn't invoked this brilliant marketing maneuver they probably would have gone out of business years ago. Not because they are a poor machine -but- they cold have never competed with MS-based PCs on the basis of cost alone.

apple products are overall better, because mac os x is a better operating system. but you are right, many programs that designed for windows will not work on macs. There is a program called Microsoft Office for Mac, and that gives microsoft office, obviously, for macs. If you are going to have programs that will only work on a pc, then get a pc. if you don't, get a mac.

Mac Pros: Better overall
Best Operating System
Uses ram more eficiently

Mac Cons: Many programs are incompatible
make up minority of computers in world. 10%
Schools use PCs
1 button mouse, is hard to get used to.

go to cnettv.com, they just had a video about top 5 mac vs pc.

in the search box, type in top 5 mac vs pc

"then i heard that you can't put Microsoft things on it" is totally false.

Intel Macs run Windows as well as any native Windows PC using Boot Camp or Parallels, to name only a few choices.

"can you maybe give the pros and cons" - better you just go to the nearest Apple Store and try them yourself. And, ask them about running Windoze programs.

well mac's are very greedy and dont allow user manipulation. But since you cant do much with a laptop Pc either, that's okay. The cons are Mac's are not gaming Pc's. They dont have "drag'n'drop" :(.

However if you purchase bootcamp you can run Windows on your Mac. The Pro's are it is a simply OS. I recommend them for novice Computer users.
