They probably discovered more evidence since the original charge. The most likely explaination is the victim found more items missing, or more property that was damaged during the crime. If the value of the items stolen or damages increases, so can the penalty.

It doesn't appear to me that you know how to do your research. Try searching on legal websites. Call a university law department. There are many students in those programs that will help you out for free. Give it a shot and see what you come up with. Also, use spellcheck every once in a while.

Sounds like the they discovered some additional evidence that shows the crime was worse than originally thought.
