The US pulling all foreign aid sure sounds good, until everyone decides to cash in the all the IOU's that represent our monstrous national debt--it's tempting sometimes, I KNOW, but I think there are many things to consider first. Such as how the truly innocent average Joes (who can't always control the attitudes of their government/ representatives) would suffer if this happened. No doubt these representatives would indeed be angry (and mouthy, and threatening, etc.), but it's their people that would suffer.

We will lose our diplomatic currency / influence.

My guess is the first reaction they will have is to try and negotiate asking for the aid to be continued. If that doesnt work, they will turn to the other countries for aid.

Some countries do need it (in our best interest), like the philiphines which relies on our military assistance/aid to fight off the terrorists lurking in their territories, I forgot what their group is called but it has connections to Al Qaeda.

But some just abuse the aid, maybe we should review the aid and see if it is benificial to continue it.

Foreign nations would be angry, but perhaps more importantly, defense contractors and munitions suppliers would be furious. Much of our "foreign aid" is actually military aid. For example, the US gave 10 billion in military aid to Pakistan since 2002.

Considering foreign aid vastly benefits politicians in both directions, probably more scared than angry. Fear causes irrational behavior. Anger follows fear. So, our complete and sudden pull-out would send shockwaves of fear...

I'm not American, but, on behalf of Canada, I say, it's YOUR money, keep it... Look out for number 1, eh??? Take the money, help the poor, invest in health care or schools, or throw a big-*** party with free beer... It's your money, that they taxed you out of... Give it back to the American people...

Funny how other countries tell you to 'mind your own business' until there is a natural disaster, or the Germans invade... Then they come a-knocking, wanting help...

PISSED. But most of the international community would find a way to take issue with almost any action we took, so it really isn't that prudent to micromonitor our image. If it were, we'd already be screwed.

Some will be angry and some will be happy. The ones that are angry though might bomb us or something and that wouldn't be to good.

The other nations would starve without our $480 BILLION a year. This is $110 BILLION a year more than our Defense Budget, how freakin embarassing is that!

Most will be very hungry, but we would lose alot of oil and raw materials in the process, in this new "global" age no one nation can stand alone.
