What should the Indians do this offseason?

If you were Mark Shapiro what moves would you make?

I wouldn't do a whole lot right now. Might try to get a 5th starter in the mold of Clement, Garcia, etc. Lineup is just fine w/ some very nice young pieces in Sizemore, Cabrera, Peralta, Gutierrez, Francisco and Martinez. Shore up the bullpen maybe. No maybe, I would go out and try to get Cordero of the Brewers to close. Very underrated.

Starting making moves, any way that I can, start trading players, try to lure free agents to the Cleveland Indians, etc. Not just sit around on my butt, waiting for a deal, or a player that is a free agent, to even become unavaaible, because another team picked him up.

I would get another closer, Borowski is too iffy even though he led the majors in saves. they cant wait on Sowers to mature or Lee to get his act together to be their no 5 guy, they need another starter. I have read that they want Carl Crawford and he would be a nice fit. They have Barfield, Lee, Marte and Sowers to deal with, let them get some pieces to get over the top and lets hope we see the Tribe hoist the championship banner in 2009...Go Tribe!!!

They need another SP. Carmona won't duplicate last season's stats, and Westbrook/Byrd are not good enough to push the Indians past the Tigers in the Central.

To tell you the truth, nothing. Maybe resign a few prospects or minor league free agents but other then that nothing needs to be done. They have a wonderful young staff that doesnt need to improve to win ballgames.

re-sign Borowski, sign Carlos Silva, sign cory patterson, sign lowell, sign scott linebrink and trade away josh barfield and cliff lee for prospects and middle relief help.
