What else does the guy have to do? He has to be consistent here on out still to be the MVP, as of right now he prob is the NFC MVP but we'll have to wait and see.

AP would the NFC MVP easy if the Vikings were winning. He is leading the League in rushing he was before his record breaking day. Now the 2nd place guy (Willie Parker) needs a 300 yard game tonight to catch up. The kid is the real deal more than I can say for Reggie Bush who is finally starting to become a running back as opposed to a glorified wide out but I still put AP in another class above almost any RB in the NFC.

He is the most prolific rusher at this point of the season. That's all.
I cannot see giving a worthless midseason honor to someone whose team is 3-5. Sheer numbers, in my opinion do not translate into an automatic MVP.
I would, however, put him in the top 3.
Favre would be my number one, as he had led his team to 7-1. Romo would be my number two. They are the leaders of their teams, and are racking up some pretty good stats.

He has to have minnesota winning more games to get MVP I think.
There are a lot more players out there that have teams with a winning record to recieve NFC MVP and like Farve and Kitna, both are putting up great numbers and playing hard and helping thier team win.
Peterson is playing well, but if anyone on that team should get it I would give it to the O-line but they need to start winning games first.

The season is far from over. What if he twist a ankle after you annoint him MVP?He isn't very valuble to the team sitting at home is he?Whisle it looks like he is going to have a very good year football is a team sport getting his team in the playoffs will help his chances termendously.I want to see what he does this week vs. Green Bay.He did very little agaainst them last time.Have they got him figured out?If they did other teams will quickly.Or are we seeing a guy who just needed a couple games to get going in the NFL?He is exciting to watch we will see how long it last.

Not likely.
He's Rookie of the Year, easy, but you have to help your team win to get an MVP trophy, and the Vikings aren't going to win 8 in a row to finish the season.
Farve is the top candidate so far, and the voters love the old man.

Absolutely. You can argue for Romo and Favre as well. To the first guy who posted the first answer..."virtual unknown?"....umm...what?A.P. is on pace for 2000 yards as a rookie and rushed for the NFL record against the Chargers. If there were a NFC MVP, A.P. is most likely the front runner.

I'd vote for Plaxico Burress before I'd vote for Favre. Favre is expendable to the Packers at this point; the Giants would be in big trouble without Plax. Why do you think he suited up for every game even though he was injured all season?

If AP keeps this pace up he will break the rookie record with a game and a half left to run, and will be darn close to the single season record, if he breaks the single season record, I don't see how they couldn't give it to him because with out AP the Vikings would be right down with the dolphins and rams right now. So he's helping them win, not that much but he is, and he's a rookie.
how can you say no?

No he isn't.
A rookie has never won a conference or a league MVP
MVPs are not chosen from teams that will end up with losing records and no playoff appearance.
He probably has NFL Rookie of the Year wrapped up if he keeps at it though.
