no one can say with certainty who the best team is this year.

last year the colts lost 4 games and still won the super bowl. they lost to the cowboys, jaguars, titans and texans. i'm sure no one said the texas were better than the colts last year.

the only thing you can absolutely say is that the patriots were better this week.

I did some studying on the stats of both teams and found that the Colts would actually be even with the Pats if the schedules had been more even so far. Through 9 weeks the Pats average opposing defense ranked 22nd in the league while the average opposing D for the Colts ranked 15th. After figuring up the points scored and allowed by every team the Pats had played, the teams had allowed 273 more points than they had scored while the teams that the Colts have played have allowed 71 more points than they have scored. Also, the Colts have played teams with a combined record 27-21 while the Pats have played teams with a combined record below .500. The Colts D has also played higher ranked Offensive teams and ranks higher than the Pats D. If the Patriots had played defenses that were ranked as high as the defenses that the Colts have played, New England would have outscored the Colts by 2 points at this point in the season. Two points ! And I believe that my calculations were pretty correct since they only beat the Colts by 4 points and the game was very close through the first 3 and a half quarters. Either way my Colts lost.

Yes the colts had a few key players missing. But it's no excuse, and besides the Colts were getting a little help from the officials anyway, so I don't know why Colt fans are even complaining. Last season the Colts got lucky with the Super Bowl win. But now it's all about the Patriots. The only way the Colts will ever see a Super Bowl is by watching it on TV.

No the IndianCRAPolis Colts are no where near better than the Patriots.Last year was a fluke.Everyone in the world now knows who the best team in football is.Sunday showed us that.

It is now not out of the possibility that the Patriots have a chance to do what no team has ever done and that is go 19 and 0 and win another Superbowl.

Can the Colts say that.? They can now only dream of the Super Bowl as the Patriots have now clinched the AFC title
and secured home field advantage throughout. The Colts now must pack their bags for the frozen fields of Foxboro. That is of course if they even make it that far.

The Difference that was last years team this is a new year
When the Odds to win the Super Bowl 2008 came out
the Colts were the Favorite
When the Pats signed Randy Moss the Colts slipped to #2
it doesnt go by what you did last year

Listen to any Pats player in an interview they don't care what they did last week last year ,they look at 1 week at a time if they didnt have a bye week this week coming ..they would have today off and tuesday would be focusing on Buffalo

rofl,of course the colts are better.they proved it last sunday.they did all that to the patriots and they did it without half their normal team.the pats had their full strength team in.
i promise pats fans are scared for january.they prove their uneasiness by coming to countless message boards and STILL talkin trash even after they just won.so much hate in their hearts.thats y they r always called classless.then they wonder y.
the pats are to 1 dimensional.if the colts offense was up to par, pats would have been dead in the water.TRUST me,they know this.n.e fans will not admit this but the patriots team knows what really happened out there.
if the colts go to new england with their original full team in a couple months, its lights out for the pats.snow and wind wont be a factor.both teams pass alot so it will affect them just as much.and if pats cant throw, their running game is doomed.and they will get a huge dose of joseph addai.
sorry pats, you just dont have enough to take out a healthy colts team.

I still think the Colts are better. They were up by 10 with 8 minutes left in the game and they blew it. The Cowboys gave the Patriots a match for 3 quarters, then blew it in the 4th. The patriots can be beat, and I know either the Colts or the Cowboys will take them out on their next meeting now that they know how things are done. Don't bet on the Patriots winning the SB now that the elite teams are figuring them out.

Well, the Colts are Super Bowl Champs until the Pats beat them in the AFC Championship Game...but the Pats just beat them in the regular season showdown...so battle #1 goes to the Pats...but obviously, the war is likely not over for the season...

Yes, we cannot base the skill level of either team on last week's game alone. Because for one, we are missing a key component in this battle here - Marvin Harrison, Manning's go to receiver. Would it be different if Harrison was there? Perhaps.

I'll say this .....

The Colts had 3 starters out with injuries, The Patriots had all of their starters. And the Colts still gave them all they wanted.
