I'm currently a 2nd Line Support technician and it's something I enjoy, but I'm worried about my future within IT. I've been considering a career within product design, engineering design, etc.

My husband is a structural engineer...transportation and geotech....he has all the work he could ever want...I don't know if it'll be one of the best over the next few years...and the schooling is super intense, as is the certification for PE and other things...but honestly...he gets job offers even when he's not looking for them...never been laid off...great pay and benefits.
I'm a nurse and there is NEVER enough of us...and our hosptial is ALWAYS short handed Surgical techs.
