We used to do "Penny for the Guy" when we were kids. We'd make a "Guy" and take it round all the houses. Then we'd give the money we collected to charity. Of course, those were more innocent times and nowadays it's a bit crazy to let your kids wander about the streets at night going to people's houses!

Traditionally it was for the kids to buy fireworks with but since you're not allowed to buy fireworks til you're 18 anyway it's kinda pointless really.
