I took my dad to the mall the other day to buy some new shoes. We decided to grab a bite at the food court.
I noticed he was watching a teenager sitting next to him. The teenager had spiked hair in all different colors: green, red, orange, and blue. My dad kept staring at him. The teenager would look and find him staring every time.
When the teenager had enough, he sarcastically asked, "What's the matter old man, never done anything wild in your life?"
Knowing my Dad, I quickly swallowed my food so that I would not choke on his response; knowing he would have a good one. And in classic style he did not bat an eye in his response.
"Got drunk once and had sex with a peacock. I was just wondering if you were my son."

I remember (I was about 10 or so) my grand dad & I were in a store once and the salesperson asked if we needed help and he said, "Not unless you want to help us LOOK!"
It took me quite a few years to bring myself to use that line but I say it all the time, now.

Congrats Ben!! How far along is she? (: I was going to say Father and Son, dammit. BQ: Breathe in the Air - Pink Floyd BQ2: I'm gonna see if I can finish this painting for him by Sunday. My family isn't that big on Father's Day, though. Edit: Haha, that's exciting. You'll make a great dad, I'm sure :D

Just let your dad be. He's a human being too. Dads maybe weird sometimes but they are still a big part of your life dead or alive. They are always there for you when you need help. You'll thank him soon. Before he goes just think of him as a buddy a pal your best friend on the planet. Think of him in a different perspective. Can't live with'em cant live with out em! While it lasts let your relationship with your dad be special. Your a lucky one to have such a fun loving father that loves and cares for you! Just let it last a long time so you remember all the memories and scenes you had with him. Think of when you were younger and bagged your dad to do something. I'm still 9 and i love my dad. He's something special to me and belongs in a huge spot light in my life.

Good on your dad. I bet all that jell on the youngster hair melted and he went away wondering what the older generation did, that he was missing. Oh dear. I hope the guy doesn't come across any peacocks!
THANKS for cheering me up. Have a visit to the lung specialist today about lump in my lung. So feeling tense.

LOL, that's a good one! Reminds me of when my son was around 19 and my youngest daughter [5 yrs his senior] was back home again. I came home from work one evening to her telling me he was in his room with a girl in his bed. I told her 'No WAY!'..she said 'Yep, I knocked on his door and he didn't answer, so I peeked in and there is this girl with little braids in his bed'!
Well I went in his room - and then died laughing! It was no girl! It was HIM...once again he had run out of things to do with his hair and had gotten what I called Medussa braids with different colored rubber bands on each braid...
Well, that didn't last long - not after I told him how much I liked it! LOL
BTW - this young man, now 37, is the most conservative dresser you'd ever want to meet!

This is a great senior story!! Loved it and would love to know how the teen reacted to what your dad said. My dad was good at coming up with stuff like that, too.

It was in my senior year and in the spring dad and i went trout fishing on a school day. i went to school the next day, and the principal told me to bring an excuse the next day. Went home and told my dad, so he wrote a note for my absence. ii gave it to the principal. It read, WENT FISHING. The principal said, Well, if its OK with him, its OK with me. I loved it.

Ju Ju , that is hilarious ,your dad should write one liners and get paid for it. (no offence to anyone on strike) You sound like you have a good rapport with your dad.
Like your pic BTW. I'm going to have to try to figure out how to do that . People try to explain it but unless I acually do it myself , I just don't get it.
