ANYONE WITH AN IPOD!!
can you get songs onto it for free or d you have to download them from itunes??

I personally prefer the iPods. They really aren't that hard to use - I didn't even look through the manual, just started plugging stuff in, downloading things, and figured it all out from there. I think the iPods come in smaller sizes, which I like. Then of course, there's all the cute colors they come in (I got red!) and, if you order it on Apple's website, they'll put an engraving on the back for free. The only down side - they're a lot more expensive!
EDIT: You can rip songs off of CDs you have and download those to your iPod, you don't have to use just the songs from iTunes. I have over 500 songs on mine right now, all came off of CDs I have.

If all you want to do is listen to music, I would say just get an mp3. They are usually cheaper and just as good quality. Probably one of the big differences between the two is an iPod has a more popular status and maybe better quality depending on which mp3 you compare it to.

iPod, mp3's are soooooo much harder to get songs onto! iTunes is free to download to!

I have a Zen mp3 and I love it, it is very user friendly and very easy to download music from my cd's or my computer. Good luck!

i have an mp3, it's magenta colored. i love it! so get the mp3.
