If it were me, I would get therapy as soon as possible and try to get rid of it.

Are you sure, Garrett? I've heard of some...If therapy didnt work, then I'd go to church and pray my a** off. I really think that that is what gays should be doing. Trying to get rid of it, I mean.

gopher64, its not about "thinking outside of church"..In my mind, being homo isnt someones fault, but its their responsibility to get rid of it...Its like a growing a third hand..It isnt better or worse, but it just shouldnt be there.

nice debate, by the way, gopher64...Well, if EVERYTHING is acceptable just for ther sake of tolerance then where would we be??What if instead of homesexuality, we were talking about pedophilia? Some behaviors are just wrong...If some1 is gay, it doesnt make them a bad person. I know there are some GREAT people who happen to be gay...There are nice pedophiles too! I'm not a blind church follower by the way.

I'm not saying being gay is as bad as being a pedophile.

Going to therapy to stop being gay would be like going to therapy to stop having brown eyes.
Being gay is a trait which certain people are born with--it's not better or worse than heterosexuality, it's just not as common.
I suggest you open your mind a little. It would do you some good to think outside the Church for once. If you are really interested in what the Bible has to say, I'd suggest learning Hebrew or Greek, so you can read the old and new testaments respectively--not something that was translated into English, because God didn't write the Bible in English, man did.
edit: Why oh why do you think it's someone's responsibility to get rid of their homosexuality? Because they might not win Homecoming King? Because they might not be able to rent a video at Blockbuster?
No, it's because you think that a gay person will go to hell if they don't get rid of it, which isn't true. I suggest that you step outside and see that the world isn't all one same person. We have different races, religions, political believes, hair color, sexuality. That's the way the world is.

this is a really silly question but it illustrates the rather unfortunate point that some people believe, despite all the scientific work that has been done on the subject, that homosexuals are that by choice. This seems to be particularly true of Christians as we can see from some of the answers. the worry point about that is that some of them may be in a position where they are advising a young person who has been brought in as a christian and is also a homosexual. It could be that the advise they give could be very distressing and maybe damaging to that person if they give advise based on the sheer depth of their ignorance

Therapy doesn't help you get rid of attraction, sorry.
You're either gay or you're not, there is not "turning" someone gay.
People have talked about praying it away, do you know the success rates? 1%. Then that 1% more often goes back to being gay within a couple months. It isn't pretty. Those are for the Christian Conversion Camps.

Oh God I really don't know! That would be such a huge change I don't know if I could deal with it. Waking up and being gay. Phew. Doesn't bare thinking about....
I guess maybe I'd go have sex with an entire football team. Just to check, you know?

Well its not really possible to turn gay one day, especially because I am gay already. But if it did happen to me, I wouldn't do any thing about it. Just go one living my happy and gay life. :-)

That is by far the most asinine thing I have heard on here today. Just when my hope in humanity returns so do people like you. Thank you for restoring my doubt in the goodness of the human race!

For a start you couldn't just suddenly turn gay.
But if it were to happen, then i'd just carry on with my life as normal.

Bet you'd call in sick that day! so you could have some 'alone time'
OMG are you seriously comparing being gay to being a paedophile?
