Oh sure. Example; Oil company tells new presidential candidate they will put 30 million dollars into his campaign fund for yet to be determined favors during presidancy. Presidential hopeful excepts. Wins Presidency. Then doesn't return the favor. They assassinate him and blame it on whoever they don't like that month.

Add about two hours of chases and a nicely timed explosion and you've got every single Tom Cruise movie since Top Gun.

Yep, especially if they own a lot of govt. debt.

The whole neocon Grover Norquist idea of effective govt. is to drown it in a bathtub of debt.

Somebody is going to own that debt, and thus will be pulling the puppet strings of the govt. and ultimately those of the citizens.

I think you're asking an interesting question.

But I think our system of lobbying pretty much insures that the gov't DOES obey Corporate America.

Sorry but I haven't seen any connection that says corporate America owns the government. It just doesn't add up.
