I don't think that gentlemanly manners are outdated. I think that many guys have just given up or weren't taught to be gentlemen. I love it when guys do nice things for me (open doors, treat me with respect, don't let anyone say anything bad about me or disrespect me, etc). They all charm me. I do know of a 13 year old who is very charming with girls and women. His mom has taught him from day one to be this way. I think it's so sweet and a very good idea. I wish that more parents would teach this to their children, especially the boys.

It's funny you ask this as I was thinking manners by men and women may have lost it for eachother, but I won't genrealise everyone, the other day 2 people (men) at different points of the day went out of their way to hold the door open,I said thanks and 1 guy replied back 'no problem' so there is still some out there lol.

My honey is always a gentleman to me, he always opens the doors for me, he would never let anybody disrespect me, holds my jacket out for me, he even calls me darlin. I wouldn't have it any other way. I don't think gentlemanly manners are outdated, I think more men should treat their ladies like ladies!

When my husband stopped opening car doors for me, I knew it was the end of our (27 years) marriage.
"gentlemanly manners" as you call them are just a way for men to express their commitment.
Manners, for a men, is not just about opening doors but also about acknowledging that the woman is always right (even when she's wrong).
I used to love my husband because, in his eyes, I was always right...even when I realized I was wrong later.
Then, one day, he told me "you always have to be right", in a way that he thought I was not...then I knew he was cheating on me.
I think men, not observing those "gentlemanly manners" are just plain dumb. They can get any woman with those and keep up as long as they keep it up.

No I don't think they're outdated. My boyfriend opens doors for me, but that's about it, and I'm perfectly ok with it. To me it only matters when they do it just because they want to make you happy, not because they think it's something they should do. But I'm not a very hard girl to please so, either is ok with me.
