As a newborn each and all the time. started a love affair with trains that has on no account ended. I enjoyed the scent , the noises - the chugging of the wheels made words, fish an' chips, ham an' eggs, gotta pass and so on (say them to your self without a pause between the words and get the sensation of the sound) because of the fact the fee altered or we went down an incline. i will nonetheless conjure up the scent at will and each and all the smut and flakes coming contained in the window only further to the magic. The practice right down to Weymouth used to pass throughout the city and to a newborn seeing the city and the holiday makers throughout the carriage residing house windows after hours of fields and cows and so on became the better area of the adventure. no longer something can ever comes close.....

Landnut gave you GREAT links to the two biggest US sources of Model Railroading... HO is the most "popular" scale, but N-scale has improved incredibly in the last few decades and you get "more" railroad to fit in your layout-area.

Since you're starting out, I'd look at the Bachmann line of starter kits... OR Athearn is another very good brand to buy "al a carte"

GOOD LUCK, and WELCOME to the Worlds Greatest Hobby
