My number one will be "The Commercial" by Wire, because I really do enjoy the music and as an added bonus it's only 49 seconds long! Great wonderful stuff. And it's probably the fist punk instrumental as it's on their debut CD from '77.
"The Ox" by the Who has been a favorite since I heard it. I listened to the first 10 or 15 sends and thought "This is gonna be a good one!" when I first bought the CD, then I realized there were no words coming. And I was quite disappointed but the music is still awesome.
"Bankshot" by Operation Ivy is neat, and the only vocals are when it says "Bankshot!" near the end and some noises he makes with the beat in the middle.
"Instrumental" by Crime is good, not great, but good.
"Arms Race" by the Weirdos is pretty good.
I like "European Son" by the Velvet Underground which isn't technically an instrumental, but there's about a minute of singing followed by 6 and a half minutes of instrumental. Which is too bad because the part with the vocals is great, could have been a favorite track.
"Mad Dog Cole" by Slade is great.
"Go Go Go" by the Lurkers only has the occasional "Go go go" or "gotta gotta gotta go!" for lyrics.
I feel like a hippy for having so many, and the scary part is I think I could name more but I'm sick of digging through my library. I'm ashamed of myself.

damn sarah c you always ask good questions, and I knew you were gonna say Atom Heart Mother Suite! haha
Mine would have to be either "Frankenstein" by Edgar Winter Group (best ever) or "Flying" by The Beatles
**not a bad thing, I just know you're such big a Floyd fan

Since I'm a big fan of post-rock, I find it hard to name one specific instrumental song. I went and saw Mono a couple of weeks ago and they opened up with this song, The Flames Beyond The Cold Mountain. It was about 15 minutes of pure and total bliss. There's 2 parts to the link, the first one being what I posted and the second one available next to it if you care to listen on.

Listen to the Stream by Tim Reynolds.....he's good friends with Dave Matthews and does a gig with himself and Dave at Luther College. Dave takes a break and lets Tim play an acoustic guitar song (no lyrics) it's unbelievable!!
