The one thing you have to know about Pit-bulls is that they are a very bad cross breed (their brains will grow but their skulls will not) thus it puts pressure on the aggression part of the brain...Any good vet should have told you that already...I had one that seemed to be a very mild tempered pit, however mine around the same age as yours did turn on my son and 180 stitches later he was put down, once they "lose it" there's no going back...It's all about what's more important to you....I wish someone would have said this to me before it happened, fortunately my son heeled up very nicely (you can't even tell now)
Good luck!

You are not being mean but realistic. Sure you love your dog and its painfull but reality intrudes. Your husband says "he doesn't care" which is odd. On one hand it would be it is his dog and he really cares. On the other would be this is my family so I care..... there is no middle ground.
If the primary male in the house is giving off "I don't care" things will get worse. Even if he tried to train him things could get worse. He is already biting.
For the safety of your family you simply must do what you must regardless of how you look. The dog must go. Look on the net for pitbull rescue but every moment that dog is in the house means risk. The breed matters not..... the behavior is there.

You have had this dog for 6 years and only now it starts biting? I would say that's odd behavior out of the blue. Don't put your dog down!! Call your vet, see if there is something that he/she can suggest for you to do!! I can't believe your so quick to put a dog who has been a part of your family for six years down!! Get more information try to find him a home, but don't put him down!!

You need to get rid of the dog before something happens to the kids that you will regret later. A dog should never come before a child's safety.

You'll seriously regret not taking care of this now if the dog mauls one of your children to death.
This isn't being mean, this is about the survival of your children and yourself. DOGS SHOULDN'T TURN ON THEIR OWNERS. If they do they are unstable and can not be trusted ever again.
If this dog were in a pack of other dogs and it bit one of them, one of two things will happen, it'd become the leader or alpha or it'd be outcast from the pack.

Pitbulls are dangerous, how much more apparent can that be. Bread for killing. Strong enough and vicious enough to do real damage. Get rid of that dog at any cost, your children might live to thank you.

Take it to the shelter or have them pick her up NOW! Do you want her to bite one of your children? Keeping her is,IMO, a form of child endangerment.

You need to get rid of it before it bites one of your children. And then it might be worse so you have to take care of it soon.

Gee why don't you wait until it malls one of your children and leaves them permanently disfigured before you figure it out Einstein!! Parents like you make me so mad. It's a pit what did you expect? Get rid of it, they should be illegal anyway!
