Female Circumcision is the same as Male Circumcision, removing the prepuce ("The Hood"), also known as a hoodectomy. I am not referring to a clitorodotomy, where the clitoris is removed.

It is done to increase sexual enjoyment for women when they have Phimosis, exactly the same as a man who can not retract.

Again just putting out the point why would you do it to your son if you wouldn't preform the same thing on your daughter.

I love Danielle's Answer...
Absolutley not. Male circumcison is the decision of the parent, but Female is just sick!!!

For her it is OK to remove the Prepuce of a son, but hey that is just sick to remove the prepuce of a daughter. If she lived in Egypt, she would be the mother that had her daughter fully mutilated.

Yes a hoodectomy is illegal to preform in the US on a person under 18. There is also an effort to extend this protection to males:

I love this question.

This type of question was actually the one that made me 1000000% certain, without a doubt sure, that I would NOT circumcise my son...

Especially after seeing so many people's absolutely SHOCKING answers. I am so appaled no one realizes IT'S THE SAME DAMN THING, male or female, mutilation is mutilation.

And thanks for that link to the MGM bill. After much research, I will be posting that everywhere I frequent.

Something to consider, otherwise they might get clitorial phimosis (rare, but it happens) or clitoral adhesions (these also happen) or a lil bit of smegma. Plus girls are dirtier anyway they have so many folds and crevices and it's warm and damp which is perfect for bacteria to grow, little girls can't always wash that area good plus it's closer to their bottom than in guys and females are 3 times more likely to get UTIs. I know some of those things don't really seem specfically connected to the clitoral prepuce, but I'm sure it would improve general hygiene and look better. And seeing as the clitoral glans would be there (not to mention the whole rest of their pleasurable bits) they would be fine for sex.

curvy you are right on!

All the people saying it's ok to do it to a boy but not a girl are flaming hypocrites. Removal of the clitoral hood does NOT impact childbirth and impacts the girl's sex life in the same way male circ impacts a boy's.

Female circumcision (aka female genital mutilation) is illegal in many countries (I would go so far as to say, in all civilised countries). Why would you even want to know?

From Wikkipedia "The WHO defines Type I female genital mutilation as the removal or splitting of the clitoral hood, termed "hoodectomy" (or "clitorodotomy"), with or without excision of the clitoris,"

"As Western governments become more aware of FGC, legislation has come into effect in many countries to make the practice of FGC a criminal offense."

i dont agree with circumcising either gender, we were made this way for a reason. i guess if your religion or culture dictates then that may influence your decision on whether or not to have your child of either gender circumcised. but ultimatly its up to you. i chose to leave that decision up to my child, when they are 18 they can get circumcised if they want or leave it the way it is, its pretty hard to do a reverse circumcision, so i would feel bad if i decided to get them circumcised and they grow up and want it the other way. i think its sexist that female circumcision is considered nasty or horrible but male circumcision is accepted as okay in our society, its the same procedure, it should be viewd the same.

Hey I could have had my first child done, as femal circumcision didn't become illegal in the US until 1998.

As for the folks who are STILL IGNORANT: female circumcision is done in other places for the same idiotic reasons given for the continuation of male infant genital reduction surgery in the UNITED STATES. It does not destroy a woman's ability to experience sexual pleasure, as there is no way you can remove the "G-Spot." Women who have been mutilated still report ability to orgasm and often can't understand how our men deal with such "ugly" and "unclean" genitals on their women.

It's just as barbaric as male circumcision and fortunately for alot of women, it is illegal to practice in the US. Are you trying to make a point on how barbaric it is for one but not the other or are you actually sickly twisted enough to think this is a good practice?

That is a barberic question. We are not bushmen. That practice is not performed in the United States. In fact, there are many, MANY, human welfare groups teaching Africans (where the incidence of female circumcision is routinely practiced) that it can cause terrible infection, disfigurement, child bearing problems, and fertility trouble to do anything of the sort.
