I need to know what type or kind of primer is the best to use on this type of surface. I have had a lot of suggestions. I thought I would get some more opinions. Thanks very Much.

If you really want it to last, use an exterior oil based primer. And use a good brand. Water based is easier to use,and I mean clean up wise, but the oil based primers will by far out last any water based ones. I would steer away from Bher Brands, and also the highly priced fancy ones. A good brand is Glidden, Sherman Williams, Olympic' I have always used and sold to my customers the Glidden Brand, until I used the Olympic. I think I like that best. Byee

their are two types you will need, the first is called Kiltz, it is a primer for all surfaces, then you will need an oil base paint, not flat latex or latex. You will have to paint it twice with it. But with the oil base you should only have to paint it once, and its for outdoor painting.

I'm opposed to painting brick; but I'll offer two cents.

I'd probably look into "Elastomeric" paints. I'd probably even SPRAY this job.
