Why do people not wear speedos in America ?

European people wear them but why not Americans ?

I live in Europe 6 months a year, there are many people there who also shouldn't be allowed to wear speedo's either.
I once saw an overweight European wearing a speedo with the print of an American flag.I was so grossed out!
