If you're over 18, you can go to city hall where you were born and request to see your birth certificate. Be aware there will not always be a name, and if your mother isn't talking, you will be stuck. My cousin, who was adopted, is 73 years old and she never could get the information.
If you get a name, post on the genealogy forums that you are looking for this person, post everything that you know about him, and pray he wants to be found. Most of them don't.

okay, i think if it was on her birth certificate she wouldnt be asking... besides if her mother was single and didnt want the father known, or didnt know the father.....he wouldnt be on there. this is truly just a search game you will have to play, sorry i cant give you a site to look on but i had to clear up the whole birth certificate thing

go on the Internet yellowpages.com or yellowpages.ca if u know his last name that might help. talk to you mother and try to find as much as possible about him. be prepared to talk to alot of strangers make sure to ask questions to them... it will take alot of time but in the end im sure u will find him... i didnt talk to my dad for 14 years and i found him when i was 17 by using the Internet and doing alot of calling around to people who had the same last name and i actually contacted his mom.. GOOD LUCK

Go to some of the genealogy sites, such as genforum.com Sometimes you can ask a question there. Maybe someone there will know where he is.
