we used to take walks with my father to look at the christmas lights, while my mother baked up a fast batch of those slice and bake cookies. We'd come home all frozen and red cheeked and have hot cocoa and the cookies....... and listen to scratchy christmas music. Memories like that can last a life time- I'm 49 and they still linger with great fondness.

When my daughter was a child, we would put on our favorite holiday movie, which was: "A Christmas Carol," drink hot chocolate, keep the fireplace going, & fall asleep together on the couch.
The next morning, I would make her favorite breakfast & then we would visit our friends & family.
