Tolerance
by John Leroy Maxwell
This is not a perfect World, we see things everyday..
That make us take a second look, or make us turn away..
The heart of man has turned to stone, and compassion
is not found.. We've taken Love and Friendship, and
beat them to the ground.. No longer do we hold our Hopes
and all our Dreams so dear.. At any given moment, we
will trade them in for fear.. Let's end this reign of violence,
and halt these evil designs.. We are all in this as one
Human Race, to that we must resign.. So please reach out,
so all of us, cease the malice and the pain.. And maybe
one day soon, we'll hear Sweet Music in the Rain..
So as you kneel and Pray to God for a better life for all..
Ask that Peace and Tolerance be placed visible on the Wall.

well the first couple lines are self explainatory but it means that our world is not perfect, we try to ignore things, our hearts have become hard to compassion and love, at any moment we just give our dreams away because we fear something or we fear that they might not come true, we are all in this together and when God comes back we will all be the human race and we cant call ourselves any other thing but that, so please pray for our world to be better and, pray that peace and tolerance be placed upon the wall (wall i think is a metaphor for everything that hold us back from God or holds us back from the good in life). I hope this helps. :)

The poem's conclusion, asking us to pray for Peace and God-Harmony to be made plain upon the Wall, is like an upside version of the "handwriting on the wall" "Mene, mene, tekel, upharsin" given in Daniel 5:1-31.
The poem's premise is that the world is not close to perfect, hence warring and intolerance cause suffering. He includes every human as being in such fallen behavior, and asks us to get up again, by getting on our knees in prayer.
"A Philosophy of Universality," O. M. Aivanhov, "Men in White Apparel," and "Climb the Highest Mountain," Mark Prophet, are good re this. Two real-life stories: "When Invisible Children Sing," Dr. Huang, and "Expecting Adam," Martha Beck.
Also, a novella, "The Great Divorce," C. S. Lewis.

The message of the poem is to tell the people about the fallen world we're living in.
It talks about this world, being fallen and imperfect and us, being imperfect sinners.
There are many things that are in this world that are constantly changing, and the poem goes on to illustrate the good and the bad.
It delivers the message to the readers on how harsh realities have hardened our hearts, and how vulnerable we are, to succumb to temptations and failures.
It tells us that fear and the lack of faith and courage often drives us to desolation, leaving our shattered dreams behind.
After relating the life experiences with the readers, it goes on to enlighten the readers that all human beings should unite and help one another instead of stabbing one another from behind.
The writer of the poem ends this poem with an optimistic outlook despite its negative examples stated. He believes that one day he will hear the ''sweet music in the rain''. Lastly, he believes in God, and trusts in him that there will be peace among people and the world will change. This goes on to influence fellow readers to also pray to God and ask the same.

The God-fearing writer believes the world has forgotten how to show respect and compassion for the Earth's creatures, particularly between humans themselves.
I agree 100% that this is true, but do not feel the answer is in God's hands - it is in yours. We are the ones who spread good deeds and kind words to others. We need to take control of our emotions, learning to love and nurture again. Maxwell suggests these are part of our dreams but we no longer follow these feelings.
The human is the creature who has the ability to reason and change things, so stewardship of our lives - planet, animals, environment, communication with other humans - becomes the most important thing we do.

Well for the young lady that asked how could should she not understand it is plain as day well some may not understand as quickly as you do but count it all joy that you can understand quickly. As for the young lady that asked the question I did understand the poem but I can see how someone else can get confused because he jumps around in the play but as the other two people stated it is more about the tragic situations that is going on in todays society. God Bless

It's about how the world isnt safe anymore or nice anymore. ALMOST EVERYDAY you hear somthing in the news about a murderer or a robbery and also the poem's about Hope of how all that wil end. ( in the 80's when u were a kid u could just ride your bike to the comic book store but now its not safe cause someone will try and kidnapp you or kill you. And have u noticed how HIGH SECURITY everything is now?)

It's about those who are suffering in the world today and not everyone hears or cares. But there is always hope, that things will change for those deprived -- so they can hear Sweet Music In The Rain.
