80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

To sustain and develop the human race to provide resources that will continue our habitat (eg taxes, skills such as building houses, everyone who has a job really or who teaches anyone anything!!)

I don't understand how we have been created to have good memories and live full lives?!

Are cats and cows and all others animals born so they can have great memories and live life to the fullest?

No, then to be honest why would we be?

It always nicer to have good memories and great friends, that is a benefit to life but I do not feel the point

"Love God, love colleague as Self, love as Christ Jesus loves, ascend in the Light of God as have Enoch, Elijah, Jesus, and many other Saints."

"Climb the Highest Mountain," Mark Prophet, "Watch Your Dreams" and "Men in White Apparel," Ann Ree Colton, "Man, Master of His Destiny," O. M. Aivanhov, and "The Reincarnation of Edgar Cayce?", Free and Wilcock, all give good contemporary answers. "Expecting Adam," Martha Beck, "The Great Divorce," C. S. Lewis, "When Invisible Children Sing," Dr. Huang, "University of Destruction," David Wheaton, and "Life before Life," Jim Tucker, M.D., also very good.

Http://www.coasttocoastam.com has a worthwhile guest this Thursday, http://www.seandavidmorton.com who will talk generally about this.

cordially,

The meaning of life is to enjoy it to it's fullest. Spend as much time with people who make you happy and laugh! Hopefully these people are family and friends. Try new activities & foods, travel to cities that you've never been. Don't let worries take over your life!!

I do not know what this number thing is you mentioned.

the meaning of life?....semi good question....
don't suppose you've asked around yet, to get ideas from people around you?
there is no shame in taking "personal polls" from friends AND your elders. it shows you are actually trying.

wellllllll,........to my.........answer.

make, find, good memories,.....make, find, hold onto friends,....close friends are even better.

in MY view...here---if the day EVER arrives,...you are laying on your bed or in a wheel chair,..in an old folk's home,....and you can't do anything about it......

memories are ALL you have left. so go out and make as many GOOD memories with as many GOOD friends as you can in your life.
and remember this------it's not how many people YOU love------it's how many LOVE you.!!!!!! you have to have SOME kind of crowd at your funeral. you damned sure don't want to be buried alone with no one to mourn you.

good luck to you.....many blessings to you.....

now what's YOUR view on it, huh?????????

Let us, then, be up and doing,
With a heart for any fate;
Still achieving, still pursuing,
Learn to labor and to wait.
