Horrible waste of wood products, would not you agree? Maybe a sort of air hose attached to the wc would do it? What did they use long ago? I know the greeks and romans used sponge on a stick. The servants cleaned it up for the ruling class. But they were totally reusable. And another thing, why are horses, dogs etc etc. able to eliminate without wiping? So how did humans get in a fix so they must wipe or stink and get a rash? Evolution? Nothing else has this problem. Why is that?

Interesting question. Having experienced it on hol. I think the Turks have it right. Small tap/jet in loo bowl to wash. Then just dry with paper. To obviate use of paper, your suggestion of hot air drying would sort it.
The 'evolutionary' problem is down to wearing close fitting clothes - underpants, trouusers, etc.

When i read your bold part of the question i was thinking about the same thing with animals they never wipe but dogs do wipe their booties on the floor sometimes. WEll one way is those things that look like toilets but water comes out of it so you can just wash ur arss after you do the doockie. No toilet paper and i bet your booty would be more cleaner...

You go ahead and protest the use of toilet paper. Im going to keep using it. Did you even think this argument through? How much water is it going to take to clean a sponge on a stick? , Or how much water we'd waste if everyone started using a bidet? You'd be doing more damage that way then with a few squares of toilet paper.

Obviously you have never been close to a horse's rear end, I suggest you keep it that way - they don't wipe but sometimes it looks like they should - or better yet hose it down !

As for the rest of us - well I'm still waiting for someone to explain the mystery of the three sea-shells..........

Eww. There is nothing more uncomfortable than walking around with bowel movement greasing up your crack, and probably itching and creating a stain. It is just disgusting to think of what will happen without toilet paper. I'd rather wipe myself until I bleed than walk around unclean back there.

ok so the poo sponge thing is good in princible apart from a couple of flaws in the plan.
1 are you really going to clean the turd off yourself?
2 what will you use at a friends house? can hardly take your own now can you?

Yes every body has to have a bidet, save paper but use much more water. Either that or we all go round covered in shyt.
