The two Christian Churches’ viewpoints I am describing are that of the Roman Catholic Church, and those of the Church of England. They are different because in the Roman Catholic Church, annulment may be granted- when it is agreed by the Catholic Church that the marriage was never real in the first place, but the C of E can grant divorce, but remarriage in a church can be forbidden because it is up to the right of the individual minister or vicar to decide whether the new couple take the Christian marriage seriously( so they can remarry in Church)
Catholic-A civil divorce is not recognised, and the second marriage is still seen as adultery, so the new couple are discouraged from taking the Eucharist.
Church of England, who accepts civil divorces. Both partners are free to marry again. But as i have said its the view of the individual vicar if they can remarry in a Church.
I had an essay Remarriage after divorce, its what we learnt? :) hope it helped
