If the tap water is safe for you to drink, it's safe for your baby, too. You don't need to sterilize water for a bottle. The baby will never build up antibodies to her environment if you do that. Stop boiling. If the water tastes gross unfiltered, then filter it, but if it's fine and you're just a worried first time mom, don't sweat it--she's fine. If your water comes from a municipal water source and there is no road construction in your immediate area, it is safe to use tap water. If you have well or cistern water, you should either continue to boil it or to have it tested for bacterial contamination at your local health department. Using a water filter is ok, but you may filter out fluoride, a desirable element that reduces dental cavities.

No, at this point she should be able to handle any kind of water as long as it's from a clean source. Doesn't have to be filtered or bottled water either. The most important thing is to keep the baby bottles clean...always wash with soapy water and rinse well.

i used bottled water for like 2 months with my daughter and then i ran out of it mid day and couldnt get to the store to buy more so i switched her to tap water. the healt nurse told me that even bottled water should be boilded but i didnt feel the same way. i was also told not to use the nursery water that has the floride in it because it is no good. it can actually make their tummys upset.

I always bought those big jugs of spring/filtered water and used that. I kept it on the counter so I didn't have to worry about it being too cold or warming it up. I would think it would get expensive though, I only supplemented with formula, I mostly breastfed...

I've used just filtered water since birth with my daughter. If it's filtered, that takes out the impurities that are worried about, so yes, it's fine.

If I'm not mistaken, using filtered water should be ok at that age.
