I'm making a sculpture of a house and I need something to look like grass. I don't want to just paint it on.. is there some product out there made just for this purpose?

Model railroaders have stuff for that. IIRC, you paint your substrate green, then apply a clear glue and sprinkle little green flecks of stuff over the glue for texture.

Go to a hobby store and check out the model railroad stuff.

Start with some kind of brush (scrubbrush, toothbrush, hairbrush) then trim the bristles really short, then paint/dye them green.
