"Lost" is watched by a small but nevertheless loyal audience, and ABC had finally figured out a way to make the show work by imitating HBO series.
Anyone know how much of the new season (set to start in Feb, I think) is in the can? Or if "Lost" is gonna end up jettisoned, probably never to return?

I found this online, it's a grid showing how each show is affected, but who knows what will happen?:
"Lost" = Expected to have eight out of 16 episodes ready.
Midseason, none have aired yet

With 6 shows already filmed and two more scripts complete Lost is in a good spot.
The show is currently set to air February 6th. What this means is two things: The first thing is that assuming the producers will need about 8 weeks to get a quality offering written and shot (which is probably conservative) the writers strike will need to go 3 months before the show is impacted at all. The second is that the network might want to move the date to a premium spot since many or most shows will be hurt badly by that time.
ABC might also want to run repeats of the first 3 seasons to fill slots of their other shows which are hurt by the strike. Come February Lost may have gained viewers and be in the position of airing a high quality first run series. It might just be the only show in town.

There is a contract in place for the remaining 48 episodes (16 episodes in each season between 2007-2010) so they will be completed no matter what.
The first 8 episodes of season 4 have been made, so the worst case scenario is that they air the first 8 eps, then do a hiatus until the other remaining 8 episodes are done.
I have a hunch that Lost won't be affected. We can but hope!

Eight Episodes have thus far been filmed, a few more may be written already and will go to production, but there are conflicting sources about that. Lost will air as scheduled for at least february and march. If more episodes have been written and the strike is still ongoing it will air longer, if not LOST will go into reruns/hiatus after the eighth episode of season four. If the strike ends before that then Lost will not be affected at all.

I don't watch "Lost", but I still think this is a good question. I heard earlier today that a lot of our TV shows (even the soap operas!) are going to be shown in reruns. Hopefully the strike won't last long. I remember when a writers' strike took place about 20 years ago and David Letterman had to make up his own jokes. I'm a Letterman fan myself, but I remember that his own stuff sucked and I was really relieved to see the writers' strike come to an end then.

I heard shows like Grey's Anatomy (shows that are in the current line-up) are 2 months ahead. So if Lost isn't scheduled to start until Feb - they may have a similar cushion, if not more..

Check out the link below, the first (last) article states that they might not show Lost at all since all the episodes have not been written and they don't want to start it without being able to complete it. I guess it depends on how long the strike is.

Well it should be ok. Most of the episodes have already been taped.
It's after this next season whether not it will be cancelled.

lost might not have a storyboard, because of the writers strike, so they might continue to write it after the strike.
