That is what every married person basically did in their vows, and you see how well that works out for a lot of people......

Why the thumbs down? Are you blissfully unaware of the divorce rate, and one of it's main causes? I am happily married, I'm not against marriage, but it doesn't work out that well for a lot of people.......

Realistic? Well, no, probably not. Anyone can tell you anything. That is the beautiful lie that is love. The thing that matters is whether they can back it up. I mean, you can ask them and they can promise but it really doesn't mean anything. Actions speak louder than words.

If you are in a relationship, then it should be understood that they won't cheat. And if you don't trust that they won't cheat, then why would you trust their promise to you that they won't cheat. But sometimes I've asked just for the sake of hearing it, lol.

Well, you can ask whatever you want... doesn't mean it'll happen. And as they said, I don't think you should have to ask..... it's understood that you don't cheat when on an exclusive relationship. Anyway, words are not carved in stone so people can promise so many things..... doesn't mean they will live up to their promises, though..... so I wouldn't expect a guy not to cheat on me only cuz he promised.... but because he loves and respects me.
Would you answer my question?

When u love someone, u shouldn't have to ask, it should be understood. It's an unspoken rule, otherwise what's the point of being "with", someone. If it was an unusual situation, like having to go away to prison, or away to school, for an unusual length of time, then yea, it should be discussed, and for sure I think it's your right to know where u stand.

Yes. It is merely a question. However, is it realistic to believe the answer? That is up to how honest you feel the other person is with the answer.

You shouldn't have to ask. When someone really loves you they respect you enough not to cheat. I think it's realistic to tell them if they decide to cheat to please break up with you first.

nothing is a promise that they wont cheat except how much the person actually values you. even marriage is not a promise that they wont cheat.

No. Exclusive dating is a non-verbal promise that you won't cheat.

It depends on the person that you ask to make the promise. Ask me, then you can write my answer in stone. Ask someone else, then it depends on that person.
