If they count thumbs up they would have to count thumbs down...it would only be fair. It might be a good system to weed out the trolls who vote thumbs down just for the heck of it.

no. it would be childish to count the thumbs .
they are there , up boosts your spirit; down makes you think others are envious of you or are embiciles.
but the points are enough to encourage us carry on.
they are the carrots without the whip.
