Killing fellow Muslims can't be helping there cause. When will the peace loving Muslims around the world publicly denounce terrorism and stamp it out of their religion?

The solution seems to lie within themselves. If they continue to allow this within their religion the world will continue to live with terrorism, including themselves.

If 2% of Muslims are nut cases that's 500,000 the world has to deal with. Could it all end with a few words changed in the Koran? Something like peace on earth, good will toward men?

I have been asking for years- "when will the day come when peacefull Muslims rise up and stop the terrorist mindset that is using their religion as a shield.

Seems to me that until the moderates take back their religion we will be dealing with this. The lack of noise being made by the decent Muslims can easily lead people to think that your 2% estiumate is WAY low.

Golfer that is a stupid and uneducated thing to say!

Right. And by that logic all non-racist whites are responsible for cleaning up after the Klan's bad PR moves.

The numbers speak for themselves. If only 2% of Muslims are nut cases then it would be faulty to assume that the other 98% approve.

One major problem here is that Islam doesn't have a Pope or any other type of leader to speak publicly for the whole of the religion. For any Muslim to assume that they can speak for the whole of the religion would be sacrilege and going against the modesty that is required of them, spiritually-speaking. Still, most every Muslim with an outlet to do so has spoken out against terrorists. How many times and how often must someone apologize or condemn before they are allowed to move on with thier lives?

In a way, I can see the logic of your question but what you're really asking for is not a realistic option. Further, it insults the very people who we should really be embracing at this moment in time. How would you feel if people assumed that you supported the actions of the extreme radical fringe of whatever philosophy you adhere to?

Because: 1) they are scared to death of terrorists (with reason); 2) who do you trust outside your religion if they will not stay the course with you?; 3) Wahhabism contorts the Koran into making them feel they would violate it by opposing it.

The phenomenon of Islamic extremism is the largely the result of the oppression of Muslim nations at the hands of tyranical regimes armed and financed by the western powers. Simply altering the quaran will not change the circumstances which have brought about the current state of affairs.

You can't change the Koran. It's (supposedly) the Word of God, after all.

And there are nut cases everywhere, regardless of religion.

"peace on earth, good will toward men"

The bible has similar statements, and that didn't stop the crusades did it ? Millions of people have been killed in the name of Christ throughout history.

So regardless of how much the "peace" loving muslims denounce violence...it still won't stop the extremists. They are as you said...hell bent on destruction.

Crazy conspiracy theory #142: The rich have used (and continue to use) religious extremists of all faiths to terrorize the masses and distract them from their own exploitation at the hands of the rich.

Why did you ask an inflammatory, quasi-religious question in the "Politics" forum???

There are plenty of "nut cases" of all races, colors, creeds, etc. Sometimes, it just takes the right "question" to figure out who they are! ;)

P.S. Did you have to use one of my favorite comedians as your avatar? I seriously doubt that Jerry Lewis, or any true fan, for that matter, would approve of your question. *I* certainly don't!
