Not necessarily. You'll learn soon enough that there's little difference between the two major political parties. It's really up to you and me to make our representatives enforce a change of course at the national level - and I'm afraid, despite our loudmouthed insistence that this is the Home of the Brave, there are far, far fewer brave people in these United States than just about anywhere else you could name. The politicians and the fascist-controlled media have worked together to keep dimwitted Americans scared and compliant to the point that we'll give up our essential liberties for a bit of security. We don't realize that by doing so, we'll not have, or deserve, liberty or security.

The country didn't really get a chance to recover from the bleak Reagan/Dubya Daddy era, those 12 years that seemed more like 40. Eight years of a progressive president sadly wasn't enough to totally reverse the destruction, but it was a good start.
Clinton did what he could in the time he had, even burdened by the media circus over that horrible hummer, but then we get slammed by 8 years of the most anti-america president we've ever seen, we'll be paying for this one for generations to come...
If we can get at least 16 years of strong democratic, or better yet, libertarian, leadership in the "oral office," we might be able to get back on track, but that's unlikely to happen.
The current administration has proven again and again that it doesn't care about the rules, they just care about getting thier way. I don't see anything but re-pube-ican rule on the horizon. They've pushed the envelope and found that the public will stand around like slack-jawed yokels while the country and its people are raped and pillaged, doing absolutely nothing about it.
With the fancy new voting terminals, they don't even have to worry about the "wrong" people voting, or producing phantom chads...
BTW- I'm not even a democrat, they're just the lesser of two evils!

I certainly hope that we will begin to move in a positive direction. The Bush presidency has been a nightmare but we are a strong nation and we will recover and move forward.

Well we can only hope so. Rignt now the GOP bulldozer is running out of gas. While there is still a Republican party, I don't see much sign there is a movement happening. I hope the conservatives who are REAL conservatives bring some balance and sanity to their party and can jetison these authoritarian / evangelicals that are briing not just their party but the nation to the brink of disaster.
We can only hope so.

It's going to take more than just a new leader...it's going to take hard decisions and sacrifices from all Americans.
Too bad none of the candidates are willing to voice that. They all seem to be singing the same "rosy half-full" song.

Well, Pelosi failed to do anything that hurt W. And now most of the D candidates are saying we will stay in Iraq. So, it looks like we will continue down the proverbial toilet.
