I am not a resident and im here on a student visa. need to go back to the uk, where im coming from, if i dont get one within next 4months.
me and my girlfriend love each other and weve been datin for over a year now. we both are 21.
do you think I should leave her and go back
or ask her to marry me so I can stay with her?
its a big thing to ask but she loves me and we both feel that there is a potential future for us.
give me ideas of how I should act!
she knows i need her help but i havent seriously talked to her about it, and im scared to tell her everything then she gets the impression of I want the citizenship more than a marrage which is not true.

Are you ready to commit to her for the rest of your life? Is she ready for that type of commitment? If you are ready to make that kind of commitment and are able to support yourselves then it's fine to ask her to marry you. Feeling rushed because of your visa status can sure seem like you are just wanting to stay in the US. I agree with the others who advise you to tell her what you've asked here......with the caveat that you shouldn't propose unless you feel she is 'the' one.

The two separate issues are getting joined when in fact they are separate. One affects the other but doesnt have weight in deciding the best solution.

If she is aware of the citizenship issue, leave it to her to offer, if you want to marry her ask her, but not to stay in the country. If you want to go back then ask her to come with you so that you can continue to build your future/relationship, let her respond from there

Why not just tell her what you've told all of us? Just be honest and leave it to her to make the best decision that is right for her.

you need to marry her because she's the one for you and you want to marry her, not because you want to stay in the country. That would be extremely unfair to you both.

Why don't you marry her and take her back with you when you go?
