It is not for a job, it is for a college leadership program called First-Year Leadership Institute.

I was told "The first 30-45 minutes of the interview will be an interactive group activity that the interviewers will be observing. As a group, you will be given a task and we will be observing how you interact with the group. "

I have no idea what the activity will be, but any suggestions that would help in such situations?

Thanks :)

Listen carefully to the instructions. Make sure you listen to the others and don't just try to grab the spotlight. Focus on the task or activity and what needs to be done to accomplish it. Involve others in doing those things in a positive way ("Julie, you seem to be really good at that. Would you take charge of it?" rather than, "Julie, you do that."). Be inclusive. Don't just interact with the people you feel an immediate affinity with, but try to draw in the quiet person or the different person.

They just want to see how well you work in a group and how you handle things! Even if you aren't the leader make sure you express your opinion, think of it as a group project. Keep your cool, and you'll be fine. GOOD LUCK.

seems kinda tough, because everyone is going to try to be the leader because you are based on how good of a leader you are.

If everyone is a leader then its kinda a pointless exercise.
