No, it doesn't. People say I have a very soft & sweet voice. I am still getting calls asking to speak to my "mom." I then ask, "my mom?" They say "yes, your mom, is she there?" Then I start laughing & tell them that I am the party they wish to talk to. That's okay, it's a wonderful compliment. When my fiance & I first spoke on the phone, he said I sounded so young & asked me if the age I said I was, was right. LOL
knuckles.....Is that true? That's a long time to have an unpaid phone bill.

I used to work for a firm where I had to use tannoy system and everyone thought I was the office junior....I was 38 at the time. Even now folks think I sound much younger than I am. I am now 60 years old and glad that I'm not on speakerphone! Someone would get a nasty shock, to see my wrinkles which apparently belie the sound of my voice. Buy hey, if I have only ONE thing that hasn't aged that's cool and I can live with that!
Everything else has gone downhill over the years.! :-)

I do think that's a very good question indeed!
Well i speak to atleast 40-70 different people a day from all over the uk being in telesales and i think you can tell sometimes particually women you can tell when you first speak to them whether they are younger or older as when you find out there title for example ''mrs'' they usually sound older and have more of a broad voice but with ''miss'' they always tend to sound more fresh and light voiced if you understand where i'm coming from. Women who are married sound older obviously and women who arn't are obviously younger like in there teens, early 20's, but that's not to say you can tell every women is married or not but it's just an example. If i was too phone up someone you would know straight away i was a miss as i'm a teenager. Men are abit harder because you havent got much of an idea you can tell tell if there teenage boys from 14--20ish becuase of the speaky voice but from then it's hard to tell. So in my opinion sometimes you can sometimes you can't. O yea and you can always tell whether your talking to a smoker or not i think aswell

No when I worked for Amex I was always being hit on by young guys phoning in. I would laugh and tell them I was older than dirt, old enough to be their mommy - and they wouldnt believe me.
Apparently I sound like a sexy 20 year old on the phone. I do amazingly well with cold calls when I am working in Media Marketing or other sales.
The guys are always disappointed though when I show up for our appointment even though I warn them - they just want to keep on hoping ...... LOL
I had a guy say to me once "God you could make a fortune on one of those 900 sex lines - " no thanks. I have a very soft voice too and find it extremely hard to talk loud enough for someone to hear on a bad connection, I always end up with a sore throat afterwards

Flattery will get some people everywhere LOL. Who knows if
that was a sales strategy or not. Your voice may sound much
younger, as I'm told mine does. However I'm sure I don't sound like a teenager. At least no one has ever said that to
me. Now when I've heard my taped voice, I do sound really
young. Well, did their comment ring up a sale for them? LOL.

The caller usually thinks i am a man because my voice sounds so low on the phone. Never heard anyone say anything about how old I sound though.

I don't know how my voice sounds to others when I speak to them on the phone, most people I ring are friends or acquaintances and they know it's me after only a couple of words. I have heard a recorded message I left once and I didn't like the sound of my voice at all, it was pretty goofy I thought.

What a fantastic question!! well actually a lot of people say I've got a nice voice on the phone, but my poor old grandmother they think she's a lot older than what she is and one time a guy actually said to her, "sorry mam" I don't think you're young enough... I think he was selling a kitchen or something and you've got to be under 65 for rules or whatever she was so taken aback.
Thanks!!

I have had a very deep speaking voice since I was a teenager so people have naturally assumed that I was older than I actually was. Age has caught up with me though.
